Illinois Small Cities Directories List and Index

The good news is that the following directories have been microfilmed and published commercially; I found them in the microtext collections of the Allen County Public Library Genealogy Center in Fort Wayne.

The bad news is that they are only labeled “Illinois” and have no contents or index anywhere that I can find; there’s no way for a researcher to know where, or whether, these twelve boxes of film contain a place and time of interest — except to scroll through all twelve reels. (Of course, the majority of Illinois directories are well indexed and catalogued, as they are just one city to a reel.)

I have scrolled through and created the following lists and an alphabetical index by location. Let me know of any corrections.

Twelve films with 66 directories covering 100 communities in 22 counties in the early 20th century.
